Automatic Weather Station for Agricultural Purpose
A product by Ingen Technologies
|
|
Ingen automatic weather Station (AGROSENSE) provides continuous
automatic observations on basic Weather parameters like air temperature, humidity,
soil moisture, dew point, sunlight intensity and rainfall. These parameters are
the most crucial for monitoring agricultural production. The AGROSENSE is easy and
quick to install.
The AGROSENSE software generates weather messege automatically every 30 second -3
hours: the user just selects the interval. The messages are stored on the PC hard
disk and, if user can edit the weather messages manually using the AGOSENSE SYNOP
Editing software, which also allows you the view the sensor data in real-time. The
AGROSENSE can be provided with an ptional memory unit for data storge. Built-in
algorithms test each measurement to ensure data quality. For each parameters, test
are carried out on the minimum, Maximum and and step limits and the difirent paramiters
are crosschecked. Abuilt-in testing system also continuously chechs the hardware,
reporting immediately if a fault occurs.

The AGROSENSE is designed to measure atmospheric air temperature,
humidity, rainfall, sunlight, Intensity, atmospheric pressure, and soil moisture
and complete data to central weather server through GSM/V-Sat communication network.
The details and specification of measurement and sensing systen are given below:

- Temperature sensor: The solid state temrature sensor used is 0.5 0C accurate with
digital serial output interfaced to microcontroller. It is capable of reading temperatures
with a resolution of 0.0625 0C. it operates over a temperature range of -40 0C to
+ 125 0C.
- Humidity sensor: It is capacitive type humidity measurement transducer witch gives
frequency output proportional to the % Relative Humidity (RH). It has fast response
time and very low temprature coefficient. It oprates from 0 0C to 140 0 C and measures
humidity from 0 to 100% RH. It has deviation of -2% RH to +2%
RH.
- Rainfall gauging unit: This unit is designed and developed indigenously for rain
gauging. It consists of two solenoid oprated valva controlled by microcontroller
cricuit and measuring chamber. Measuring chamber is of 5 ml volume and has fill
sensing connection. Microcontroller opens the SV-F first to fill the measuring chamber.
As it sense the volume fill it closes the SV-F and opens SV-D and increment count
by one indicating 5 ml measures volume. The SV-F and SVD keep on operating in sequence
till rain water in collection get completely drained.
- Sunlight intensity sensor: This is based on a monolithic photodiode with on-chip
transimpedance amplifier. Output voltage increases linearly with intensity. The
integrated combination of photodiode and transimpedance amplifier on a single chip
eliminates the problems commonly encountered in discrete designs such as leakage
current errors. Noise pickup and gain peaking due to stray capacitance. The 0.0
x 0.09 inch photodiode is operated in the photoconductive mode for excellent linearity
and low dark current. The output of sensor is connected to onboard analog to digital
converter inside microcontroller to measure light intensity.
- Atmospheric pressure sensor: State-of-the-art piezoresistive transducer based monolithic
silicon pressure sensor is used for atmospheric pressure measurement. The analog
output is digitized by the built-in ACD of the microcontroller.
- Soil moisture measurement: This unit consists of two electrodes which measures the
dielectric constant of the soil water medium and then estimate soil water content.
Soil capacitance measurements are used to measure the soil moisture content.
